On the evening of November 3, a grand cultural and artistic performance was staged in Shibadong to celebrate the Jike Festival, attracting tourists from all over the country and surrounding people to share a singing and dancing feast.
The event kicked off with the Miao drum dance. It consisted of three chapters and showcased the changes and struggles of Shibadong Village. Various programs such as drum dances, singing, sitcoms, and ethnic costume shows were staged, providing visitors with a unique audio-visual experience.
The Miao girls in costumes presented the gift of Jike Festival to guests, fully showcasing the happy life of Shibadong Village after poverty alleviation.
“In the past, as young people left the village to work, there were few people in the village. Today, so many tourists come to the village to celebrate the festival together. I’m particularly happy,” said a villager from Shibadong, who witnesses the changes in the village. She firmly believes that the future life will be full of hope and get better and better.
“I felt the characteristic Miao culture and strong national cultural atmosphere. I’m very happy to celebrate the Jike Festival with everyone,” said a Uighur girl, who was also immersed in the warm atmosphere with her friends.
Chun Lei, who is considered to have a world-class tenor voice in China, sang with a folk singer from Xiangxi to express the feelings of the Miao family, receiving waves of cheers from the audience.
It’s the second time that Chun Lei has visited Shibadong Village, and it has been ten years since his last visit. Over the past decade, the once poor and backward small mountain village has regained new vitality. He said, “The village is completely different from that ten years ago. The people become happier.”
At the end of the performance, a lighting ceremony was held. Villagers dressed in colorful ethnic costumes danced around the bonfire with tourists, immersed in a joyful and peaceful atmosphere.
